Hi all
Just a speedy post for you today, for today’s Trend-Alert card idea.
I have a stinking headache (which came on yesterday and still hasn’t given me the good grace to go away!) so I am hoping to spend minimum time in front of a screen today. No mean feat with my office job. Ho hum… Let’s see….
I was thinking about cameos. The ‘official’ definition of a cameo is a carving into a rock or stone to leave an image in relief, in a contrasting colour. Although traditionally we think of cameos as portraits, in fact other subjects such as flowers, country scenes or nature designs – hence my butterfly – are possible.
I wanted to make my own cameo for today’s card – stamping onto black card and embossing in white embossing powder for the maximum contrasting effect.
By cutting out and layering up my stamped butterfly (from the Hero Arts set: ‘Antique Engravings’, CL383 ) on to a diecut circle of the black card is emphasises the relief effect of a carved cameo.
More layering on to a Nestie cut scalloped circle which is accented with Liquid Pearls gives the cameo frame style.
The soft background paper is from a new 6×6 pad, from Melissa Frances called ‘Attic Treasures‘. I scored this recently from Flourishes – MF is super-hard to track down in the UK. I *do* hope for a stockist here soon!
It’s embossed with the Craft Concepts ‘Garden Swirl‘ embossing folder.
Also – I thought it would be a fun idea to fold my card blank in to a gatefold, so my cameo is a central accent, but only fixed to one half of the card front.
Hope you likey, I am off to nurse my head some more. Thanks for looking!
