Quick card for Lily Pad inspiration

Here’s I card I squeezed in last night. I made it for the end-of-month challenge over at Lily Pad Cards: it’s the Lily Pad Inspiration challenge #4.

I was inspired by a couple of ideas…. first the great sketch – Lucy’s Lovely Lines;Lucy's Lovely Lines sketch… and the yummy card that Therese made here to go with Kathy’s Lily Pad Palette.

Here’s my card:Lily Pad Cards inspiration#4
I was up for a kraft fix 😉 and last week a dear friend passed me a bag of  super-cute retro patchwork fabric scraps, (it’s always fun to share crafty goodies no?).
Anyhoo, I thought some of them would be great for a spot of mix-and-match for those off-centre flowers.
I used my Nestabilities circle die and fixed them in place with black brads – Therese’s use of black with pops of colour was great, wasn’t it?
I drew the stems with my fine black marker.

For the accent in the corner of Lucy’s sketch, I added a fun bee brad. It’s been lurking in my stash for yonks – I think it was by Karen Foster.
A spot of doodling in white gel pen for the bee flight trail and to highlight the flower stems, to finish.

Bye for now, Rx

Sketch-On-Saturday SOS19 – circle card

Today’s card is one inspired by a fab blogger who’s a great inspiration, and I’m sure a good few visitors to my bloggo will have admired her work too… 😉
It’s Britta Swiderski, and this week she made a fun circle card for the
Simon Says Stamp challenge ‘Shaped Cards’.

It reminded me that I have plenty of circle sketch ideas in my assorted notepads but I’ve not actually made one for a good while, and certainly not for a Sketch-On-Saturday.
So I worked up an idea that I was going to be the inspiration for today’s card!

Here’s the sketch I made:

Sketch-On-Saturday SOS19 card idea

And my card is an idea for a boy (or I suppose it could even work for a ‘boy at heart’!):

Sketch-On-Saturday SOS19 circle card idea

No stamping, but some fun patterned papers… The freehand cut ‘swoosh’ stripes are from My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist ‘Out of the Blue’ 6×6 pad, and layered up on more of the coordinating papers to make them pop 😉

Sketch-On-Saturday SOS19 circle card idea

The monster and red patterned panel are both die-cuts from Fancy Pants Designs ‘To the Moon’ Design Embellishments pack. Plenty of foam pads give dimension, and I added a little sparkle with a border of gold Stickles.
In the end I wasn’t sure about where to add the sentiment, but it struck me to write it around the edge of the card, where I was thinking of doodling stitches. Fun!

Hope you like it – I’m entering it into the Simon Says Stamp ‘Shaped Cards’ challenge (great inspiration!) and also this week’s Fabulous Fridays challenge over at
Frosted Designs which is also on the theme of circles!

Have a great rest of the day bloggy friends, see you soon, Rx

Happy summertime card

So the weather is still not so summery this morning – bit more summer rain anyone?
But at least I have a summery card to share today.
Which is inspired by the July #18 challenge over at the Making it with Meslyn blog:

“Summer cocktail – recipe – ribbon/sentiment and a splash of citrus”

Here’s my card:

citrus card Makingit with Meslyn #18

No actual citrus fruits were actually harmed during the making of this card but I love all the zesty colours 😉
The main image is stamped from ‘DIY Topiary’ by Flourishes, and coloured with my watercolour pencils. Popped up on plenty of foam pads.
It reminds me of a lemon tree – even though I know it’s roses!

Makingit with Meslyn citrus summer card challenge July#18

The background layer is a piece of spotty doily – polka dots *and* a doily! Combined! Yay!
Edges are distressed – Distress Ink ‘Tea Dye’.
A scrap of vellum plus ribbon and twine (The Ribbon Girl) then the ticket topper is a journaling card by American Crafts ‘Just Write – Enchanted Tickets’. Cute.

Got to dash then, see you later alligators,
Hugs, Rx

Thank you card idea

Not much time for crafting last night. It was zumba class and I *definitely* need some recovery time after that!
I rustled up this quick design – nothing too taxing for a weary crafter 😉

Thank you card

The soft patterned paper is My Mind’s Eye (Stella & Rose ‘Hazel’) and the birdie label is also MME – ‘Lost & Found’ from the glittered die-cut accessories sheet. Cute.

Thank you card

It’s layered over a seam binding bow (bought from The Ribbon Girl), gold doily scrap and a Prima flower is layered with one of my hand-made Fimo polymer clay roses, made using a mould from Mold Muse. Love it.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a good day, Rx

Trend-Alert Tuesday card – clouds idea

Hooray, my Trend-Alert Tuesday card is here! Looking *sooo* much better in daylight 😉
And I’m going to be entering this one into the new Passion for Papertrey challenge:
the sky’s the limit!

Check it out:
Trend-Alert Tuesday card felt clouds

My clouds are freehand cut from white felt and glue-dotted to a card blank that’s spritzed with Cosmic Shimmers ‘Persian Blue’. I like the slight shimmer and of course the ‘splotchy’ look, like a hazy summer morning. A good morning for hot air ballooning!

In Bristol, where I live, ballooning is commonplace as it is a city known for building balloons. A lot of expertise in this area.
Many days in summer the hot air balloons pass over our house, and there is even a hot air balloon festival – Bristol Balloon Fiesta held in August. There are displays and even ‘nightglow’ events – over 100 of the participating balloons are all inflated (if I remember I think it’s all in tune to music) and they all take off by night. The glow from the gas burners is amazing.

Trend-Alert Tuesday card clouds

Enough of this anyhoo, and back to the card…
I die-cut the balloons from some cute Jenni Bowlin Studios mini papers, and cute kraft card baskets for them. The balloons die is ‘Up, Up & Away‘ by Papertrey Ink.
I’m itching to get hold of the stamps set to go with this – every time I’ve ordered from PTI its been out of stock. Wishing I could also get the clouds die to match too 😉
The sentiment is stamped with WMS ‘Say it Loud’.

Just to leave you with a bit of cloud-strewn linky love:

Check out Jan’s cute hot air ballooning scene

Love Leslie’s cloud chipboard embellies on her GCD Studios LO

CAS gorgeousness from Karen

How cheery?! Yummy glitter finish by Jinny

Fab one-layer design by Jenny – those wispy clouds are ethereal and beautiful!

And.. not such a recent one.. but I love how Courtney used the digi clouds from Tiffany Doodles

Bye then, and have a good day, Rx

Trend-Alert Tuesday – clouds & balloons

For my final Trend-Alert Tuesday card in July, I’ve another clouds idea to share 😉
A crazy schedule has meant I’ve only just finished my card and the light for photographing it is of course terrible.
Yellower than yellow.

Sorry. Will re-take in the daylight and have the full deets for you in the morning!
Back soon crafty pals, Rx

Nautical card for a man

Despite a madly-busy day yesterday I was awake obscenely early (for a Sunday). Even earlier than a weekday.

But I got up and did a pile of crafting in my pyjamas, so this is good.

Here’s a card for Jay Gee’s Nook challenge #9, to be inspired by this fab montage from Joy:
Jay Gee's Nook card challenge 9And seeing the new Ribbon Girl challenge #10 – ‘Shades of Aqua’ too, here’s my card:

nautical card

I went for the fresh monochrome look using some glittery paper strips cut with scallop scissors for the waves and I stamped the dinky boat from Woodware’s ‘By the Sea‘ clear set (FRCL037).
I added a cute journaling sticker snipped down to size (American Crafts’ ‘Remarks – Journaling Gate’) and rub-on sentiment.

And of course the Caribbean Divine Twine, and ship’s wheel charm both from
The Ribbon Girl.

Finger’s crossed I might even get another card or two squeezed in today – it’s still early!
Have a good rest of your weekend, Rx

Sketch-On-Saturday SOS18 – my type of card!

Here’s a sketch idea then to spark off some creativity for the weekend 😉

Sketch-on-Saturday SOS18
Here’s my card then folks:

Sketch-on-Saturday card SOS18
Going for a bit of a CAS style with this one I guess, and I was itching to use a stamped image that Pauline at Craft Obsession sent me.
That retro typewriter stamp (from The Thrift Shop collection) is so yummy!
Thanks again Pauline!

It’s just layered onto a few strips of patterned papers – I thought the masculine typewriter image would make for a good guy card so I chose the papers to suit, and in the end added my greeting (also stamped from the OA set)  ‘furling’ from a slit cut in the image.

Sketch-on-Saturday card SOS18 typewriter

Just like a typed paper sheet furling from a real typewriter 😉
I gave it a bit of a curl and inking for dimension.
Otherwise I thought this card didn’t need anything else – it came together really nicely!

Hope you likey – let me know if you’re inspired by my sketch! I’d love to stop by and see what you make!

Hoping to fit in a bit more crafty time later today, but I have to get busy right now as we have guests coming over for lunch and that means chores to be done!
Have a good day all, hugs, Rx

Brighter day – MME card chall#25

Hi all. And…
Hooray – the weekend is officially here! This week feels like it’s been D-R-A-G-G-I-N-G!

Today I’ve a card to get the weekend off to a bright start (even if it has been rather rainy again today, I think the forecast is good for the next couple of days – phew!)
I made this one for the fab My Mind’s Eye challenge #25 to make a card based on this sketch…
My Mind's Eye sketch chall25… and based on the theme of ‘celebration’.

Here’s my card – at least it stopped raining long enough for me to grab a pic:

My Mind's Eye card sketch25 Stella & Rose butterflies
… It’s bright and cheery – in true celebratory spirit 😉
I’m sending it to a friend who has been having a bit of a rough time lately, but she’s had some good news this week. A brighter day to turn a corner. Worth celebrating, no?!
I think celebrations shouldn’t always be about special occasions like birthdays or weddings – sometimes it’s the small stuff is really worth celebrating too.
I’m sure my dear friend will think so with this cute card.

My Mind's Eye card sketch 25 Stella & Rose butterflies
The patterned papers are all MME ‘Stella & Rose’ from the Mabel and Hazel 6x6pads. Still can’t get enough of their deliciousness. (Mind you, the new releases from CHA look deee-vine! Those Six by Six pads…. Please, someone get me a chair, I’m swooning! Can’t wait to get my paws on them!)
I diecut the apertures (Nesties ‘Labels 1’) in the white panel and popped it up on foam pads to look through the windows to the papers behind.

My Mind's Eye card sketch 25 Stella & Rose butterflies

The panel is embossed with ‘Garden Swirl‘ by Craft Concepts and inked with my Distress Inks ‘Tea Dye’ and ‘Peeled Paint’.  The diecut butterflies, using MFT Die-namics, are cut from corrugated card and glammed up with MME Treasures pearls from ‘Bloom & Grow’. The glitter rub-on is also from the ‘Bloom & Grow‘ collection. (I think this one was an exclusive, UK-only release. Weren’t we lucky with this one?!)

That’s all for now then crafty pals. Looking forward to some good crafting fun over the weekend. Hope you fit some in too,
See you soon, Rx

Trend-Alert Tuesday – more cloud fun

Hi all, hope you are well!
Didn’t get chance to post this before leaving for work today, but better late than never huh?

Question of the day: When is a cloud not a cloud?
Answer: When it’s an ice-cream! Of course!
(Cue: no laughter, as obv this is not a joke despite being set up to sound like one.
That’s ok. I *seriously* don’t expect laughs from non-jokes.
If however you do laugh at my cards when they are not meant to be funny, it will *not* be ok though. Be warned.)

For today’s trendy cloud idea, I was thinking of different ways to incorporate a cloud on my card, that isn’t the obvious.
I used my cloud stamp as used last week here and here, from the My Little Shoebox ‘Home Sweet Home’ collection.

Trend-Alert Tuesday cloud stamp ice-cream card

It’s stamped and heat embossed (WOW embossing powder, pink) and then I added glue inside the cloud outline shape to glitter-flock it.
Or should I say flock-glitter it? Well, I mixed some iridescent white glitter in with pink flocking powder for a yummy ice-creamy effect anyhoo.

It’s fussy cut out to be layered onto a corrugated card wafer cone, and a gem cherry added on top.
The chocolate flake is my fave bit – it’s a snip of woodgrain patterned paper! (MME, Stella Rose) How cute?!
The sentiment is by Waltzing Mouse Stamps from the ‘Dainty Doilies – Large‘ set.

Trend-Alert Tuesday card cloud ice-cream

I’m entering this card into a couple of challenges:
Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes

CAS-ual Fridays CFC11 – Sweets & Treats
CAS-uals Friday challenge CFC11
And, here are some fab projects from blogland using gorgeous clouds:

Alice’s amazing colouring never fails to wow me, and her cute clouds of course make this scene perfect:
Alice’s ‘Maggie’ card

Roree’s showcasing a bunch of fant-a-bu-lous cards using the new Pink Paislee collections (YUM!) and right at the end there is a cute cloud idea. Using the Halloween line. I know! Who knew?!

What a cute card from Sherrie – with clouds diecut into the background. Fab!

In amongst all Betsy’s stunning cards with new PTI releases, she made a couple of adorable washing lines scenes. What’s not to love?

Wowsers. How cute is this LO by Sharon?

Totally sweet card from Kelly! The new SC/ HA stamps are *all* stunners, but clouds that work to fit the Fiskars cloud punch! To die for!

That’s all for now then,
See you again soon crafty pals – thanks for stopping by 😉
Hugs, Rx
